Look! It's Arrived!

Hitty Mary Jean came running up in excitement this morning.

Look!  Look!  She cried. Our little book from the Robertson Hittys has arrived!

It was a very timely arrival as we had just been thinking about it this morning and hoping it hadn't gone astray, but fortunately not.  

She couldn't wait to start reading it and the other gathered round in excitement.

Holiday Celebrations Book has arrived!

It has been very busy here at Rose Cottage over the last month as the Sailor and his Fiancee were home visiting.  A couple of holidays away have been had to Cornwall and the Isle of Wight and a summary of those will be hopefully be posted in the next few days.  Normal service will resume shortly as they head off to Nepal for a few weeks and then back to work on the Cruise Ship.

Hitty Madge was delighted to come home to find that a special book had arrived from her friends Esther and Hitty Robertson and she wants to say a very big thank you to them for the very special book.

Just look at this wonderful Holiday Celebrations book.  Hitty Madge brought it down to the sitting room immediately to show the others.

They look at the various different holiday celebrations, some of which we also celebrate here in the UK and some which we don't.  

What a special book and a real treasure indeed.

Art & Books

Hitty Madge had her last art class for the year yesterday and finished two more pieces.

Meanwhile much excitement in the Hitty household when the arrival of the new Hitty Robertson book.  A group of girls gathered round the tree to listen to Hitty Joyful read it to them.//

Hitty Annabelle decided to really relax on the rocking chair.  Hitty Scary and Hitty Carol Faith reclined in a very relaxed manner on the easy chair and Hitty Leonarda who refuses to take off the new bonnet and apron for fear of someone else stealing  um, I mean borrowing it, sits next to Hitty Joyful so she can see all the fun pictures.

Hitty Joyful makes a good story reader, especially as she describes all the wonderful photos the book contains.

The Hittys at Rose Cottage would like to extend a very BIG THANK YOU to the Robertson Hittys for the delightful book.

They are currently working on a little thank you gift which will hopefully be making its way to your household next week.

Hitty Fan Swap - Sent & Received plus a Japanese Table.

Miss Happiness (aka Hitty Joyful) was delighted to receive a package today in which was a lovely fan made by Rochelle with real gilt handle!

She said it was perfect for sitting in the sun to cool her down when it got a little hot.

Of course we are not sure it is at all hot at the moment!

This is the fan and little extra gift - a silk cushion - that we sent to Rochelle and her Hitty family.

I have made us a little Japanese Table which is part of the craft challenge for week six of the Book Discussion: Miss Happiness & Miss Flower

I am setting it into place.

It has our little Japanese flower arrangement on it as well as our copy of the book.

Meanwhile...

Upstairs, Brittany, Miles and Lucy are enjoying some time together.

A busy time...

It has been a few days in the Hitty household.

'Miss Flower' (myself, Hitty Patience) and 'Miss Happiness' (Hitty Joyful) have a Japanese screen, one of the craft challenges in the Book Discussion 

We also made a Japanese Flower Arrangement.

Our person took part in a WIP Challenge and managed to get a couple more things finished...

A cradle and some bedding for Hitty Madge

She said she won't make a carpenter...lacking for the correct tools and wood, but Hitty Madge says if the bed fits....

...sleep in it....

...so she did!

Another finished WIP was a little scrap quilt made from squares from the 'A Dozen Roses' for Hitty Madge

This is a little quilt mat for underneath Hitty Madge's new chest.

Work was also done on Hitty Three

It is interesting how when photos are taken you can notice areas that need work that you didn't notice before....the face isn't right, especially her right hand side (the left looking at her)

Once some alterations were made she was sanded and varnished with a clear matt varnish ready for painting.  The pegs were then fixed in properly

The faces are especially difficult to do...hoping her face will look a bit better once painted.

Side profile looks okay though.

It has arrived!

Hitty Madge runs in from the letter box very excited today.

It's arrived!  She calls out waving a book around.

Look, Hitty Robertson's book has arrived!  Aren't we so lucky?  Hitty Madge can hardly contain her excitement and soon the four of them are reading the book with such concentration and interest I doubt that much will disturb them for hours!

Fourth family member arrives, a quilt and a book.

The fourth member of our Hitty family arrived yesterday after a trip across the wide expanse of sea.

I welcome her with open arms and she gives me a lovely hug back.

She tells us a little about herself.

"Hello, my name is Hitty Moana, which is Maori for 'wide expanse of water/sea' and I was chosen so that our person could satisfy her need from something from home.  My history is very old as I am carved from 'Ancient/Swamp Kauri' I'm sure I have many stories to tell if only I remembered them".

We are astonished and also admire her darker colour and very pretty dress that she arrived in.

Hitty Patience explains that their person has been making a mini quilt for them all.  

"Shall we go and have a look at it?"  Hitty Patience asks.  

"Oh my isn't it wonderful?" she exclaims!

They all gather round the quilt.

"Gosh look at all the thin stripes that form the log cabin effect" Hitty Ethel says.

Hitty Granny Estelle holds the other side of the quilt.  "It certainly is interesting"

"Come on let's sit on it while Hitty Patience reads us the wonderful book that the Hitty Robertson has sent us to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of writing her journal".  Granny Estelle suggests.

The Rose Cottage Hittys all listen with wonder and hope that they get to go on such interesting adventures

They enjoy looking at all the wonderful photographs in the Journal and feel very lucky to have received such a wonderful gift and would like to send a very big thank you to Hitty Roberson and her person.
