Rose Cottage Boarding House Opening for Guests Soon.

Hitty Granny Estelle and Becassine Terese have been busy getting the Boarding House ready for guests.

Becassine Terese has been very busy preparing food in the kitchen.

The main bedroom is ready with fresh sheets etc on the bed.

The children's room is ready, although one of the twins has been playing in there.

Poor Hitty Granny Estelle is exhausted and is putting her feet up for a few minutes before she puts on the finishing touches.

They are looking forward to seeing who might come and visit their island this Spring and Summer.

Busy, busy, busy!

We are all so busy here at Rose Cottage at the moment, preparing for possible arrivals.  Lots of correspondence going back and forth between prospective guests....

Becassine and Hitty Granny Estelle have been busy taking an inventory of stock in the kitchen.

They are taking note of any supplies they may need to get in.

Lots of hard work is needed to get the place into ship shape.

Viewing a New House.

Rose Cottage is at times somewhat overcrowded so today Hitty Madge, Hitty Moana, Hitty Granny Estelle and Becassine went to view a house.

They quite liked the exterior, although felt that it could do with a perhaps a little brightening up...

The living room was fairly spaces with a lovely window to the back, a radiator and a fireplace!

The ktichen was well fitted out with a sink and some built in cupboards, plus another radiator.  No getting cold in this house!

Upstairs the bedroom looked lovely and spacious with a couple of windows

Nice entrance hall and stairs, again with a radiator to the rear of the hallway.

The girls agree....it has possibilities!

Hitty Mischievous comes to the rescue!

Hitty Perdita Mischievous heard about the plight of the Half Pint Hittys 'Not Yet Arrived' and decided to do something about it.

She didn't wait around to 'ask permission' instead opting to make some magic while no one was around

Oh....I wonder what is happening?

Goodness!  It worked.... I think she even surprised herself.

She rushes off to tell the others.

'Guess what'   The Half Pints have arrived....at least I think they have!

Hitty Madge, Granny Estelle & Hitty Joyful come to have  a look.

Hitty Moana joins them.

Well they have certainly arrived, but oh dear what happened on their journey!  Looks like some 'surgery' needs to be done.  She says.

Oh I can fix that!  Hitty Mischievous claims.

Now dear, I think you have done really well helping them to arrive before Christmas, but I think we need to leave the 'surgery' to someone with a bit more experience....Hitty Madge tells Hitty Mischievous as she gives her a hug.

The Christmas Tree

We have started the Christmas decorating here in Rose Cottage although so far we have only managed to get the tree up.

Hitty Mischievous is very excited and is sure she can work her magic on getting the lights to work...

We watch anxiously,....

Two lovely gifts!

The girls were astonished to get a package in the mail today from the USA...they weren't expecting anything so it was a real surprise.  Hitty Perdita Mishievous' person (Susan) sent two delightful dresses.

Hitty Granny Estelle chose the elegant dress made from American Civil War Reproduction fabric, and is absolutely delighted by the look and the fit.  She feels like a queen!

Hitty Madge got to try on the other dress which fits her beautifully.

A very big thank you to your kindness Susan the girls just love their new dresses.

Hitty Mischievous Visit - Part Six....The Aftermath

The Day After....it seems the spell didn't quite work!

Hitty Mischievous surveys the damage...

Hitty Granny Estelle is dismayed.

Oh my kitchen!  She cries.

Becassine tries to comfort her, but with Hitty Carol Faith joining in the cries of dismay and the gasps from Hitty Mary Jean, I don't she is comforted.

Poor Hitty Mischievous...she meant well

She just doesn't know quite what happened...the spell was supposed to 'unfreeze' Mr & Mrs Mouse, not wreck havoc in the kitchen!

She assures Hitty Granny Estelle that she will tidy up...but is told

NO SPELLS!

Hitty 'yet to be named' bends down to help.

Are you sure we can't use a spell?  Hitty Mischievous asks.

Best not to I think, was the wise reply.

Meanwhile the other Hittys decide it is probably wiser to stay out of the way.

What are you reading?  I ask Hitty June

The wonderful book that the Robertson Hittys sent us of photos of the last 12 years of their Halloween celebrations.  Hitty June says as she shows me the book.

Oh how lovely!  I bet THEIR Halloweens weren't quite like ours!  I remark.

A little later

Hitty Madge is talking to Hitty Mischievous.

Probably best you don't try any more spells while you are here.  Hitty Madge advises.

But what about the mice?  Hitty Mischievous asks

Well perhaps it is best we leave them well alone.  Hitty Madge replies.

Well if you say so.... Hitty Mischievous has other ideas though as she doesn't like to think of those poor little mice 'Frozen in time'

Come on, you best apologise to Hitty Granny Estelle. Hitty Madge tells Hitty Mischievous.

Hitty Mischievous apologise to Hitty Granny Estelle and gives her a cup of tea.

Clearly she has learnt that a cup of tea is the solution to many problems!

Elsewhere...

Becassine is putting some final touches on the food preparation for the evenings dinner, whilst Hitty Leonarda is making sure everything is in its place.

Hitty 'Yet to be Named' comes over to also give her apologies for taking part and hopes that Hitty Granny Estelle is feeling less upset.

Hitty Granny Estelle says she still feels a little shaky, but is otherwise okay.

All is well in Rose Cottage....

But WHAT ABOUT the mice?!

A visitor is coming, Hitty Joyful's heart is all a flutter.

Hitty Joyful's heart is 'all a flutter' as she so informed us today.

She had heard some rather exciting news and couldn't wait to gather us all around

Wait!  She cried, where are Hitty Ganny Estelle and Becassine?

With Hitty Granny Estelle and Becassine joining us as well she explains how she has heard that a Hitty is coming here 'by mistake'  but of course we know this Hitty planned it all....after all, it is not so out of the way really is it?  I mean Richmond, VA in USA to Auberry. CA in the USA, has to go via England surely?  Anyway all we know is this Hitty is coming here for a brief visit and has caused all sorts of bother and more than a little flutter in a fair few hearts we think.

Of course now Hitty Joyful is panicking....

Oh the tea shop - it is not ready yet, oh oh oh!  She exclaims

There is so much to do.  The hanging flowers need to be put up.

We need tables, and table clothes and oh just so much,

Granny Estelle tries to calm her down.

Becassine comes along, a calming influence.

Breath dear Hitty Joyful, we will get it finished, don't you worry.

Let's start with these plates.  Granny Estelle suggests.

You really have nothing to worry about my dear.  Just think this special Hitty has decided to take a 'slight' detour just to pop in on us on her journey, I am sure she will be delighted for a cup of tea, whether we serve in the tea shop or in the cottage.

But what's her name?  Hitty Joyful wonders.....
