The Rose Cottage Hittys Return!

All has been silent with the Rose Cottage Hittys for over a year now, but hopefully no longer...

Their home is smaller, but they are making do until they can get something more suitable...

Hitty Patience and Hitty Ethel have already set up their areas - a library/writing area for Hitty Patience and sewing room for Hitty Ethel.  The 'Hicks' Hittys, Hitty Rimu, Hitty Phoebe and Hitty Moana are trying to work out just where to put things in a smaller area.

They seem to have done pretty well overall, although Hitty Phoebe seems to have disappeared while they were working.  Hitty Natalie Rose joins them and admires their work and has a sit down and chat with Hitty Rimu.  Hitty Annabelle is reading to one of the twins.  They are pretty sure Hitty Madge is going to be delighted with her art studio and hopes she will start painting again.

Work has also been going on in the Boarding House...keep an eye out for updates.

Tea Cup Challenge Prize

Imagine our surprise when Hitty Madge won the Tea Cup Challenge.  A lovely little prize of tea arrived in the post and the Hittys are delighted with it.  They couldn't help but show another little tea set that they think is rather special.

Thank you to the Quimper Hittys for organising this challenge.  We really enjoyed it and also thoroughly enjoyed reading about other Hittys and their teacups and the fabulous pictures.

Tea Cups and Hitty Challenge

One of the fun things about the Hitty Girls group I belong to is they hold lots of challenges that you can join in if you want to.  I have missed a lot of late, but when I saw this one I thought it was definitely something I could do as I do have a lovely collection of teacups being an avid tea drinker!

For the Challenge we had to:

1.  Find a pretty human-sized teacup and saucer.
2. Make or find Hitty a matching outfit.
3. Arrange a scene to compliment the outfit and teacup.
4. Photography the scene and post it on the group.
5. We could add up to three different pictures.

My three are:

Hitty Madge is with one of my favourite teacups with matching teapot, which is just perfect for one person.  She is wearing a blue dress I made her.  The teapot is standing on a scented pot stand I made that when heated up lets off a soothing scent.  The little pot holder behind is one of a set of four that were made for me for a blog swap a number of years ago by a blogging friend in Australia.

This is another favourite teacup of mine with a matching plate and the same pot stand as shown on the previous photo.  Hitty Natalie Rose is a perfect match in her fabulous outfit she came in.  She was made by the talented carver Natalie Wood.

Lastly we have Hitty Moana, carved by Bruce and Fung Hicks.  She is special to me as she is made from New Zealand Kauri, so has links to 'home'.  She is standing beside a lovely ivy leaf cup left to me by my grandmother.  I have a set of six of these, along with matching plates, sugar bowl and jug.  I am still looking for a matching teapot.  The green pot holder is the second in the set of four I have, and the little vintage trays are rather useful!

The Hittys of Rose Cottage are back!

We have finally been able to reinstate Rose Cottage and the Boarding House...it is lovely to have the Hittys out from hibernation, even if the weather is getting much colder.  The Hittys are looking forward to decorating their house for Christmas.

They have been hard at work today, cleaning and setting up their house.

It has been set up very similar to before with just a few changes.

The library is still upstairs and Hitty Annabelle is already been enlisted to tell the little ones stories!

Hitty Madge's art corner has been set up and she is now just waiting for some inspiration.

Hitty Ethel is already hard at work at her trusty sewing machine.

A few of the girls are having a relax and chat after their hard work this morning,

I (Hitty Patience) am of course typing up our memoirs, whilst the NZ girls are about to embark on a game of chess.

Out in the garden, Hitty Joyful has discovered it is a bit too cold now for a short sleeve dress!  Miles is making sure his rabbits are well fed.

In the boarding house kitchen Becassine is sorting and cleaning ready for some baking

The children's room is in need of bedding, but at least there are some toys!

Just love the detail in this house - there are coat hooks in the entrance hall and of course a radiator to keep the chill out.

Hitty Granny Estelle is sitting in the lounge enjoying the peace and quiet.

Hitty Natalie Rose is tidying up the bedroom and putting fresh sheets on the bed.

Chatting with a friend.

Hitty Natalie Rose and Hitty Madge enjoyed sitting amongst the few Bluebells in Rose Cottage garden yesterday...they chatted about some plans they had and caught up on all the news of the Hitty family,

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas

Here at Rose Cottage there is a hive of activity...

Hitty Mary Jean has almost finished trimming the tree.

Hitty Annabel and Hitty Ethel have been having a change round in the living room and moving furniture.

Outside Hitty Moana and Hitty Rimu have been decorating the largest pine tree.

Hitty Natalie Rose has been putting up the Nativity Scene.

Still more to do, but it is looking just lovely.

Earth Day Photo Challenge Prize

Imagine our surprise today when a little parcel arrived in the post for us.

We had forgotten all about the Earth Day Photo Challenge competition we had won on Hitty Girls.

Lots of goodies arrived especially for us.

Hitty Moana shows some of the lovely gardening books which will be a valuable resource.

Looks like Hitty Carol Faith has almost fallen asleep reading hers!

Hitty Natalie Rose couldn't be more delighted.  She has more seeds, gloves and row markers for her garden.

Best of all she received a little bonnet and bag which couldn't match her lovely dress and apron any more perfectly.

What a super surprise indeed.

Thank you so much Susan K.

Valentine's Day

There was much giggling going on in Rose Cottage today...

It appears the girls have some secret admirers!

They got Valentines Day cards!

Hitty Helen R, was surprised to get one and proudly shows it off.

Hitty Helen M was also surprised, but thrilled to get one.

Hitty Natalie Rose is very happy and can't stop smiling!

The girls place their cards on the side table.

Aren't they lovely cards?

The two Hitty Helen's stand and admire them and try to guess who they could be from.

Happy Valentine's Day Hitty Friends!

Thoughtful Gifts from Hitty Helen R

We haven't been able to get out and about the last few days as our person has not been well, so instead we have taken the time to get to know our new guests and give them a chance to get over any jet lag.

Hitty Helen Robertson kindly brought some lovely aprons with her and took a great delight in handing them out to various Hitty Girls.

For Hitty Ethel she chose to give her one with little pictures of scissors on as she thought it would be the perfect 'dressmaking' apron.

Hitty Ethel quite agreed and thanks Hitty Helen R very much for her thoughtful gift.

Doesn't she look absolutely delighted.

Being the story teller and resident child minder/baby sitter of the Hitty household meant that this wonderful apron was given to Hitty Annabelle.

Hitty Helen R told Hitty Annabelle that she thought it was the perfect apron to wear when telling stories to the little ones and Hitty Annabelle quite agreed.

For Hitty Joyful, Hitty Helen R gave her one with hats, as she remembered that Hitty Joyful has a thing for hats. It is such a cheery apron, just like Hitty Joyful, and she couldn't wait to try it out in her Tea Room.

Such a happy girl.

Hitty Natalie Rose is interested in dog grooming so for her Hitty Helen R gave her a jolly pink apron with pictures of little dogs and bones on it.

A more perfect choice couldn't have been had.  Hitty Natalie Rose also thought it highlighted her pretty features beautifully.

We are all very grateful to Hitty Helen Robertson's generosity and thank her immensely.   Apparently she has two more aprons to give out but hasn't quite decided who they will suit best yet.

Hopefully our person will be feeling better tomorrow.   Five Days of head pain really is far too much!

The last few days at Rose Cottage

Hitty Mary Jean has been dedicating her week to acrobatic practice....

Hitty Madge has discovered new blossom on the pear tree - the weather we have been having during our so called summer has obviously confused it somewhat.

Hitty Natalie Rose is delighted by the rose 'Oranges and Lemons'

She thinks that roses are just perfect for making you want to smile.

Meanwhile today, a few of the Hittys decided that as it was pouring with rain, then what better to do but to have lunch at the Rose Cottage Tearooms.
