Some Dandelions for this Last Day in March

Gosh if anyone reads this, they will know it has been four years since I last posted anything on this blog.  I AM hoping to remedy that this year, starting with today, the last day in March, 2025.

Hitty Madge spotted some dandelions growing, and she knows how much Miles likes them so took him out to see them this afternoon.

They are such a sunny happy flower, Miles was so happy to see them.

We will leave them there admiring the dandelions...completely ignoring the fact that some think of them as weeds.

I am hoping to start blogging again on a regular basis...who knows maybe I will manage this! I'm feeling optimistic.

Monday Blues

Hitty Madge and Hitty Morag spent some time exploring the garden looking for 'blues' on Monday.

No these are pink!

But these are blue

They admire the blue flowers...

so pretty.

Then sit for a while chatting.

Beautiful Blue Monday flowers.

Stretching their Legs while Looking for some Colour

Hitty Morag and Hitty Madge finally managed to get out in the garden today after the busyness of Christmas and the New Year celebrations.  They went in search of some flowers...

Hitty Morag was the first to find a little purple flower, although unfortunately it hasn't shown up especially purple in the photograph.

Hitty Madge then found a purple Hebe flowering.

They were both pleased to find a flower each and also to get out in the fresh air although it was rather chilly!

Catching up!

Gosh can't believe I forgot to post anything in the month of January.

The Hittys of Rose Cottage have been quietly going about their lives as they do.

I joined in the Winter Frost Challenge on Knitty Hittys.

Hitty Madge got a new dress with a winter ski theme.

A warm cape

and a warm lyra hat to keep her head warm.

Due to the shape of her head (shhh don't tell her) it isn't easy to get hats to fit her, but this pattern works quite well.

She got a warm cardigan in blue.

Which was handy when she and the little ones ventured out in the snow during our first snow fall.

Another day she enjoyed some apple strudel while out.

The heavier snow we had a few days ago meant that she helped over see some of the little ones, including nekked baby 'Keith's Cousin' who wanted to slide down the snow and thought it was fun.

Rather him than us! Hitty Madge thought.

In the weekend she admired some of the flowers in the Sailor's garden that have started to come out.

Some pretty crocus

and lovely snowdrops.

Dahlia and Celebration Garden.

Hitty Madge, accompanied by her friend Potters Bear enjoyed a walk round the lovely Dahlia and Celebration garden at a local garden centre this afternoon.

They managed to walk round it in between showers.

They took turns in measuring their height.

Potters Bear is a little taller because of his ears!

They loved all the colour in the garden.

Hitty Madge wants us to build one of these in our garden!

Enjoying the Dahlias.

Time for cake and a cuppa!  Looks like something has nibbled the bottom of this cake!

A Prize Arrives

On one of the Hitty groups I belong to we had a 'Keep your face to the sunshine' photo challenge.

I made a yellow bee dress for Hitty Madge.

This was the photo we submitted as we didn't have any sunflowers, but these were still a lovely bright yellow.

We were surprised to hear we had won  a prize!

Today a little parcel arrived.

Hitty Madge was very excited as it was addressed to her.

Look at this wonderful bag!

Before long she was spotted walking down the garden with her new little bag on her back.

Oh look there a sweet little ladybird on it as well.

Madge enjoys the roses here at Rose Cottage.  It is getting close to the end of the season now, but there are still some beautiful roses to be seen.

Thank you so much Jane, the bag is absolutely wonderful and we couldn't be more delighted with it.  I think Hitty Madge will be keeping this on for a while yet!

A most perfect day.

What a glorious day it was today.

Hitty Madge enjoyed the sunshine very much indeed.

The flowers at Audley End looked splendid.

As did the various displays.

It really was a most perfect day.

Sewing on Saturday

Hitty Ethel has been kept busy today doing even more sewing, but then as it has been a rainy day, sometimes that is the best use of time.  A Christmas dress has been made for Hitty Serenata plus she made a dress for Hitty Madge for the KnittyHittys 'Keep your face to the Sunshine' Challenge.

We don't have any sun flowers, but we do have some pretty yellow marigolds and the yellow 'bee' dress is just perfect to represent the busy bees pollinating at this time of year.

Hitty Serenata was also pleased to have her necklace made.

Out in the garden -

Having almost got over their Jet Lag the girls go out into the garden to see what changes spring has brought.

They are delighted to see the Primrose looking beautiful

But horror of horrors, Hitty Helen R, exclaims....

'Just look at the size of those weeds!'

Much work needs to be done.

A new outfit for Miles and a spot of flower admiring.

Miles has a new outfit for summer and is pleased to be out of his winter duds.

Hitty Moana has been checking out the begonias along with Hitty Rimu.

Hitty Rimu, says she can't help but smile at the sight of these gorgeous yellow flowers.

The two girls spend some time by the pond watching the tadpoles and chatting.

They deserved their rest as they with all the rest of us here in Rose Cottage have been busy dusting and cleaning all morning after new windows were fitted in the bathroom - there was dust everywhere as the masonry and concrete had to be ground away to make the new windows fit!
