New Year's Eve Swap sent

I realised I never got round to showing the Hitty New Year's Eve Swap that I made and sent.

I chose a theme of Favourite Winter Movies Party

I made a party dress, with shawl, hood in case Hitty needed to travel, a 'DVD; and a shawl for a friend.

A New Shawl for Hitty Mildred

Hitty Mildred was thrilled to get a new shawl yesterday.

 It is her first and she is very proud of it, especially as it is made with special NZ wool from the rare breed Arapawa Sheep.  

She shows off the back.  It covers her shoulders and back nicely and will keep her snug on chilly days.

New Dress, Apron, Shawl and Hat

Unfortunately there wasn't enough of the blue fabric to make a dress, although there was enough to make an apron...which of course led to finding another print for the reverse side.  Hittys at Rose Cottage do like their reversible aprons!  That then led to finding some more fabric with which to make a dress that could be worn underneath the apron.   Once that was done, it just seemed natural to sit and knit a shawl and hat to go with the new outfit to add some variety.

Hitty Morag's New Shawl

Hitty Morag is getting a few items to build up her meagre wardrobe.  A new shawl was knitted to keep her warm, and she is very pleased with it and couldn't wait to go outside to try it out.

Catching up!

Gosh can't believe I forgot to post anything in the month of January.

The Hittys of Rose Cottage have been quietly going about their lives as they do.

I joined in the Winter Frost Challenge on Knitty Hittys.

Hitty Madge got a new dress with a winter ski theme.

A warm cape

and a warm lyra hat to keep her head warm.  

Due to the shape of her head (shhh don't tell her) it isn't easy to get hats to fit her, but this pattern works quite well.

She got a warm cardigan in blue.

Which was handy when she and the little ones ventured out in the snow during our first snow fall.

Another day she enjoyed some apple strudel while out.

The heavier snow we had a few days ago meant that she helped over see some of the little ones, including nekked baby 'Keith's Cousin' who wanted to slide down the snow and thought it was fun. 

Rather him than us! Hitty Madge thought.

In the weekend she admired some of the flowers in the Sailor's garden that have started to come out.

Hitty Madge was delighted to get a new shawl and hat knitted for her the other day.

It seems quite some time since she had some new dresses made for her and has put in a request for at least one to be made this weekend...we shall see!

Hats!

Two Hitty ladies have new 'Lyra' hats and very pleased with them they are as well, and I think more of our family will be putting in orders for one!

Hitty Moana thinks the colour of hers brings out the colours of her dress and also her eyes.

She has been checking on the chard.

She was surprised to find a lettuce growing in the trug!

The camellia has buds on it so will be flowering soon. 

Mystery KAL

Just finished knitting they Mystery KAL over on the Knitty Hittys group - a sweet little apron.

I used a variegated sock yarn I had to hand.

Warm Winter Dress

Hitty Madge is thrilled to get a warm handknitted winter dress with an removable waistcoat for extra warmth.  Just in time for the extra cold temperatures!
