Hitty Love Out and About - Part One

My Hitty family have been neglected for a while now...so it is time to try and refocus on them.  A new challenge 'Hitty Love Out and About' on the Hitty Girls group was very timely for this and will hopefully provide me with the impetus I need.  The purpose of the challenge is to choose one of our Hittys for an almost month-long challenge...here is what it is about:

"Do you have an overlooked or neglected Hitty you’d like to spoil a little (or a lot!)? Or perhaps a newer Hitty that you haven’t yet had an opportunity to play with enough? Is there one who has only ever sat on a shelf and longs to have adventures? What about a Hitty living in a box somewhere? Or a Hitty that you’ve long been meaning to sew or craft or play with but haven’t gotten around to it yet?

Bring her out, and let’s play! Bring on the Hitty love! This is meant to be a fun challenge that is wide-open for activities, only limited by our imaginations. As well as being taken out and about and seeing a bit of your world, how about some crafts, sewing, knitting, or crochet just specifically for her? Maybe she wants only to keep you company as you go about your day or sit with you as you curl up in an armchair. Knowing Hitty, I am certain she will make her intentions clear given a chance to play."

I am looking forward to taking part in this challenge.  Here is what we have to do:

— Choose one Hitty for the challenge.
— Introduce your chosen one in an email to the Hittygirls Yahoo group website.
— Take Hitty out and about, have adventures, and/or make something(s) special just for her.
— Post pictures of activities in the February challenge folder at the Hittygirls Yahoo website.
— Please be sure to use your name in the photo title - the top box under your photo.
— Multiple adventures, activities, posts highly recommended!
— Challenge officially concludes February 28th but we sincerely hope you continue all year!

I had two possible candidates to choose from, them both arriving back in July 2015 and having not featured much on my blog apart from their introduction post and general 'mingling' in the other posts with the Hitty family.

I decided to choose the more 'robust' of the two, as she may well be coming on my yearly visit to NZ with me and Hitty Madge.  Plus I don't really think I had a lot of choice in the matter, you know what these Hittys can be like when they make up their mind!

So without further ado, introducing Hitty Phoebe.

She was carved by B & F Hicks in 2014 from Ash.

She has already found herself a chair so she can sit at my desk to remind me to do things with her!

Holiday Celebrations Book has arrived!

It has been very busy here at Rose Cottage over the last month as the Sailor and his Fiancee were home visiting.  A couple of holidays away have been had to Cornwall and the Isle of Wight and a summary of those will be hopefully be posted in the next few days.  Normal service will resume shortly as they head off to Nepal for a few weeks and then back to work on the Cruise Ship.

Hitty Madge was delighted to come home to find that a special book had arrived from her friends Esther and Hitty Robertson and she wants to say a very big thank you to them for the very special book.

Just look at this wonderful Holiday Celebrations book.  Hitty Madge brought it down to the sitting room immediately to show the others.

How delightful!

Hitty Anne offers to read it to the others.

They look at the various different holiday celebrations, some of which we also celebrate here in the UK and some which we don't.

What a special book and a real treasure indeed.

A very big thank you!

A Different Kind of Swap

A while back a Flickr and Blogging friend of mine Beth who has a lovely blog,  'By Hook By Hand'  decided to do a doll swap - I had been admiring her crochet dolls very much and wondered if she would like a Hitty doll.  I was delighted when she said she would like to do a swap.

Hitty '9' aka Hitty Serenata was finished and sent on her journey to a new home in the USA.  I really enjoyed this project and had fun making up her wardrobe.

First up we have the poor girl bravely posing in her 'birthday suit'

She is wearing her red 'coral' necklace.

Profile views.

Next she gratefully puts on a pair of pantaloons.

Some dresses are made for her - to suit the different seasons.

A classic 'Rose dress' as she was 'born' at Rose Cottage and a  pretty spring/summer dress

Something for the cold winter months...and of course a Christmas dress.

A patchwork quilt to keep her warm.

A shawl to ward of the chills.

Her trunk is packed...

She hops in...

Lies down and prepares for her long journey.

She has now arrived safely in her new home and I look forward to reading about her adventures.

Carving Hitty 8 and 9

I first posted about Hitty 8 here.  I put her away for a while to 'think' about.

I started Hitty 9 a few days ago and have been working on her a little at a time to save my arm and hand from getting too much pain.  This is working out much better for me, although it does take longer.  But I am enjoying this process to see a little more emerge each time.

Hitty 9 blanks.

Starting work

A profile forming.

Limbs...

Hitty 9 and Hitty 8 side by side

I have done a little more work on Hitty 8 as well - trying to round out her face a little more and adding her features.

They are getting there.  More work was done on Hitty 9's limbs today.

They are starting to show their characters.

'tis the season for decorating.

The girls have been busy decorating ready for Christmas!

It's arrived!

After a rather long journey...did the postman stop and read it on the way? Our book from the Hitty Robertson family finally arrived - it took almost two months to get here!  Most unusual.

We are pleased it arrived safely.

Now to show the girls - or perhaps it will be a surprise for Christmas.

Thank you for our lovely book Hitty Robertson & family.

Catching up with Friends.

The other week we had some visitors which was lovely as things have been very quiet around here of late.

Hitty Cherry, Hitty Morag, Hitty May Noelle  and Hitty Laura enjoy meeting up with their friends again.

Some gather round the table for drinks and to share stories...

Hitty May Noelle & Hitty Leonarda enjoy chatting....  Hitty friends are good friends.

Disgruntled Hittys take matters into their own hands.

There are some rather disgruntled Hittys at Rose Cottage at the moment....they, or rather we think we have been rather neglected of late.  A group of us couldn't believe it was already 30th October and there had been no preparations whatsoever for 31st October.  This would never do!

The girls discussed the seriousness of the situation and decided they would have to take matters into their own hands.

The set to work decorating.

Hitty Leonarda seemed to be in charge.  Looks like another has already found her costume!

Some seem to be working hard at the decorations...others seem to be taking a more relaxed attitude!

Preparations almost complete!

At least there doesn't seem to be any magic tricks involved this year!

Hitty Madge in Texas

Hitty Madge travelled to Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas with Henry the other week to attend the Sasha Festival.  She was delighted to meet two other Hitty girls!

They spend some time chatting on the first evening and pose together for a photograph.

It was so nice to meet some other Hitty lovers and all three Hittys were their person's first carved Hitty.

Hitty Madge explores the local area with Henry (most photos on his blog)

Hitty Madge also enjoys the Botanic Gardens with Henry and Wren, her two travelling friends.

For anyone who is interested in seeing more photos - they can be found here.
