Rose Cottage Boarding House Opening for Guests Soon.

Hitty Granny Estelle and Becassine Terese have been busy getting the Boarding House ready for guests.

Becassine Terese has been very busy preparing food in the kitchen.

The main bedroom is ready with fresh sheets etc on the bed.

The children's room is ready, although one of the twins has been playing in there.

Poor Hitty Granny Estelle is exhausted and is putting her feet up for a few minutes before she puts on the finishing touches.

They are looking forward to seeing who might come and visit their island this Spring and Summer.

A Busy Monday

Rose Cottage was buzzing with activity today.

Hitty Mary Jean was helping Becassine tidy up the Boarding house when she found the two shells Hitty Helen R & M had found on Orewa Beach in New Zealand...they must have forgot to pack them so she packaged them up and they are now on their way to them.

Hitty Madge was admiring the purple rhododendrons

She also picked some purple flowers for the vase in their living room.

There, that looks pretty.

Hitty Phoebe is going to go and do some shopping and asks Hitty Moana and Hitty Rimu if they would like to come with her.

Hitty Joyful is busy in the tearoom.

Whilst out side the boys are playing, Hitty Carol Faith is doing what she does best and Hitty Natalie Rose is going to plant some seeds.

Hitty Helen Robertson Arrives!

Just as we hoped the travel compartment of our second guest arrived the following day...

We are excited to meet her and can hear a few muffled noises coming from inside.

Hitty Madge carefully cuts open the seal

We pull back the doors

Hi there! Cries a friendly voice.

Hitty Helen R has arrived!  We had been eagerly awaiting her arrival after reading about her journey preparations here...

We welcome Hitty Helen R... and tell her that we have TWO Hitty Helen's staying with us - how funny is that?

Hitty Madge embraces her.

'Look, I brought my passport!' She tells them.

'You'll need that for when we go to New Zealand'  Hitty Madge tells her.

Come on, I am sure you are parched after your long journey.  First stop Rose Cottage Tea Room, where Hitty Joyful is looking forward to meeting you.

Hitty Joyful is delighted to welcome another Hitty Helen to stay with them.  Hitty Helen M is busy chatting to whom she has discovered is her long lost twin Hitty Michaela - they were amazed to see the resemblance to each other!

Hitty Joyful is very attentive and keeps the teapot full of fresh tea.

Refreshed from her journey Hitty Helen R, joins the other Hittys in the large living room where they are all gather and spends some time getting to say hello to them all.

They are all very excited about the good times they are going to have together!

Our First Visitor to Rose Cottage Boarding House has Arrived!

The excitement here in Rose Cottage reached a high this morning as the first, yes you heard right, the first of not one, not two, but possibly THREE visitors to Rose Cottage Boarding House arrived.  This was most unexpected.... seems the thought of  visiting us here in England and then travelling with Hitty Madge  to New Zealand is a very popular destination indeed.

So anyway....who was the first to arrive we wondered?

Hitty Mary Jean gets the scissors to help open the travelling box.

Oh wow look!  Our visitor is from the United States of America!  How very exciting!

Lots of white polystyrene peanuts to protect and soften the journey.

Hitty Rimu, Hitty Madge, Hitty Mary Jean and myself, Hitty Patience start trying to clear the way.

First we discover all these amazing little baskets - this was certainly unexpected and very exciting.

We put them aside for now so we can see who is in her special travel pouch.

We are delighted to see she knows how to travel in style.

Untying and lifting the lid and there is Hitty Helen.

We welcome her to England.  She is a little bewildered after her long journey.

To give her a chance to recover before meeting the rest of the Hittys we take her to the Rose Cottage Tea Room where Hitty Joyful has been making her some sandwiches and cakes and of course the ever needed cup of tea.

Enjoying some sustenance, Hitty Helen appreciates a bit of a quiet chat.  She is very pleased to have arrived safely after her long journey.

Rose Cottage Boarding House is open for business.

Following on from the big meeting held here at Rose Cottage a couple of weeks ago with regards the opening of the Rose Cottage Boarding House, Hitty Ethel has been busy at work with preparations.

She has been measuring up beds to work out the sizes needed for bedding.

She has a very good eye and doesn't need a tape measure!

She has been preparing dressers.

Making sure the lounge is in order.

Busy sewing, and sewing....

Meanwhile Hitty Mary Jean has been reading one of Esther Robertson's wonderful books to the Hitty girls.

They have been very much enjoying 'A Visit to Judy Brown's Shop'

Eventually the bedding is made.

The mattress is put on the bed

Sheets, blanket and pillow

Finally a quilt is laid on top.

Rose Cottage Boarding House is open for business!

Any budding travelling Hittys looking for adventure please get in touch with Hitty Madge for further details and to make arrangements.

Our Plans for the Year.

Hitty Patience here...I have managed to gather all the Rose Cottage Hittys together to have a meeting about our plans for this New Year.    We have managed to take down all the Christmas decorations - a little earlier than we usually do, but want to get on with things.  We are leaving the lights up for a little longer as they brighten the place up on dull dark and rainy days.

I have an agenda to work through and asked the girls for suggestions.

They all thought new clothes would be a good idea - of course - but poor Hitty Ethel said that she felt they had enough for now and perhaps underwear was more of the priority as she had heard that some were without - yet all claim to be wearing some!

We are expecting a new arrival at some stage - she booked her passage last year but there have been delays and she will need some underwear and a new dress - so perhaps we can set to achieve that in meantime so it is ready and waiting for her.

Hitty Madge and Hitty Joyful are hoping that they can open up the Hitty Cottage Boarding House and Tea Rooms to visitors this year - after the success of Hitty Mischievous unexpected visit in 2014 (was it really that long ago?!) they are quite excited about having others come to stay.

We were all unanimous in that proposal and will work towards getting a room ready for the Boarding House's first visitor.

Much work has to be done as can be seen in this photo taken last year when Hitty Natalie arrived - bedding is seriously needed!

So if any intrepid and budding travelling Hittys wish to come and visit - our doors are open.
