Hitty Phoebe Out and About - Part Eight: Baking a Cake

Hitty Phoebe wanted to make a fruit cake today.

She gathered together all the ingredients.

Measured out the quantities needed

Mixed it together and put it in the cake tin ready for the oven.

An hour and  a half later

It is out of the oven and smells delicious!

We can't wait to have a piece after dinner tonight.

Hitty Phoebe Out and About - Part Seven - Signs of Spring

Sunday afternoon Hitty Phoebe and her People went up to see their DIL.  Hitty Phoebe was delighted to find some signs of Spring.

Pretty snowdrops

Beautiful Crocus

She even had some good company!

Not long after this though they had to dash inside as some snow flurries started to fall, the temperature dropped dramatically.

Hitty Phoebe Out and About - Part Six - Saturday Night Opera

It appears that Hitty Phoebe has developed quite the ear for the Opera.  Fortunately for her Opera at the Met in New York is broadcast every Saturday on Radio Three.  Yesterday it was Donzietti's L'elisir d'amore  'The Elixor of Love'

Of course once Hitty Phoebe learnt that any discerning Opera listener would have to don pearls, she promptly put in a request for 'Opera Pearls'...and was delighted to be able to wear them last night.

She was completely enthralled by this two act opera  that is one of the most frequently performed of all Donizetti's operas.  It first premiered on 12th May 1832 and between the years of 1838 and 1848 was the most often performed opera in Italy.

Phoebe Out and About - Part Four: The Journal

Hitty Phoebe wanted a journal so that she would have a 'physical' memory of her adventures, not just an online one, especially after seeing Hitty Madge has one.  Of course this led to hunting through our person's notebook stash to find something suitable.

This is what she chose, it doesn't need an embellishing on the cover, it is already really pretty.

She has made a start...

More will be added, but just what yet Phoebe isn't sure.

An introduction page.

She worked on her catalogue card listing things she wanted to do this month... forgetting to actually record she wanted to make a journal!

The card was stuck in her journal to remind her of all she would like to achieve and do.

None of the pages are finished yet...this is just a result of a morning's work.  Now we have to clear the table and tidy up.

Phoebe Out and About - Part Three

Sunday night Phoebe enjoyed listening to the bells ringing from a village church.  Fortunately she had her hat and scarf with her, so wasn't too cold.

That same evening she made some bead necklaces.  The first she is wearing - a red coral necklace - of course!

She wanted one to match her pink dress, and also wanted a bracelet.

Success!  Reading for the warmer weather.

Phoebe appears to have found a little friend.

This little wooden mouse came home from NZ one year with Hitty Madge.

Yesterday she helped make a loaf of bread.

Plus a lemon cake for our elderly friends.

An extra one was made this morning - looks like several slices have been eaten already!

Hitty Love Out and About - Part Two

Hitty Phoebe has thought of a small list of things she would like to make and achieve this month.

A bead necklace and bracelet to go with her pink summer dress.

A carry pouch to keep her safe on her travels.

Visit places.

Listen to some music.

Make some more clothing - at least another dress or two and a cardigan.  Oh and she has just whispered in my ear that should would also like a shawl and a coat!  Not much then!!

Make new friends.   She has already started with this one:

She felt this photo was a bit 'regimented' though and would like one where she is actually getting to know Little Miss and Nancy a bit better.

Hitty Love Out and About - Part One

My Hitty family have been neglected for a while now...so it is time to try and refocus on them.  A new challenge 'Hitty Love Out and About' on the Hitty Girls group was very timely for this and will hopefully provide me with the impetus I need.  The purpose of the challenge is to choose one of our Hittys for an almost month-long challenge...here is what it is about:

"Do you have an overlooked or neglected Hitty you’d like to spoil a little (or a lot!)? Or perhaps a newer Hitty that you haven’t yet had an opportunity to play with enough? Is there one who has only ever sat on a shelf and longs to have adventures? What about a Hitty living in a box somewhere? Or a Hitty that you’ve long been meaning to sew or craft or play with but haven’t gotten around to it yet?

Bring her out, and let’s play! Bring on the Hitty love! This is meant to be a fun challenge that is wide-open for activities, only limited by our imaginations. As well as being taken out and about and seeing a bit of your world, how about some crafts, sewing, knitting, or crochet just specifically for her? Maybe she wants only to keep you company as you go about your day or sit with you as you curl up in an armchair. Knowing Hitty, I am certain she will make her intentions clear given a chance to play."

I am looking forward to taking part in this challenge.  Here is what we have to do:

— Choose one Hitty for the challenge.
— Introduce your chosen one in an email to the Hittygirls Yahoo group website.
— Take Hitty out and about, have adventures, and/or make something(s) special just for her.
— Post pictures of activities in the February challenge folder at the Hittygirls Yahoo website.
— Please be sure to use your name in the photo title - the top box under your photo.
— Multiple adventures, activities, posts highly recommended!
— Challenge officially concludes February 28th but we sincerely hope you continue all year!

I had two possible candidates to choose from, them both arriving back in July 2015 and having not featured much on my blog apart from their introduction post and general 'mingling' in the other posts with the Hitty family.

I decided to choose the more 'robust' of the two, as she may well be coming on my yearly visit to NZ with me and Hitty Madge.  Plus I don't really think I had a lot of choice in the matter, you know what these Hittys can be like when they make up their mind!

So without further ado, introducing Hitty Phoebe.

She was carved by B & F Hicks in 2014 from Ash.

She has already found herself a chair so she can sit at my desk to remind me to do things with her!
