A Cherry Blossom Painting Challenge.

Hitty Madge is always up for a painting challenge, and at the request of The Girls of Fern Forest, she thought she would give painting Japanese style Cherry Blossom a try.

She painted several, and decided to frame one of them.

Unfortunately it is difficult to see in this photo, so she will get the person to take another photo of it tomorrow.

Hitty Madge also realised she forgot to show her 'still live' she painted a few weeks ago.

Somehow though, she thinks she would rather stick to her boat scenes!

Updated especially for the Fern Forest girls...

The Spirit of New Zealand

Hitty Madge was inspired by the Sailor's photograph of 'The Spirit of New Zealand' that he took while sailing off the coast of Algies Bay in New Zealand the other day.

She worked hard at art class today....

Another photo for her  Art Gallery.

2015 Art Class Week 2

Hitty Madge is pleased to be back in the swing of painting at her weekly art class and had a very productive morning as she painted not one, but two paintings!

She thought she would try something different today...

...and came up with this beach scene.

'Flying a Kite'

She also did a little boat scene as well - experimenting with blues

I think she was inspired by her dress!

Art & Books

Hitty Madge had her last art class for the year yesterday and finished two more pieces.

Heron in Flight

Sunset on the sea.

Meanwhile much excitement in the Hitty household when the arrival of the new Hitty Robertson book.  A group of girls gathered round the tree to listen to Hitty Joyful read it to them.//

Hitty Annabelle decided to really relax on the rocking chair.  Hitty Scary and Hitty Carol Faith reclined in a very relaxed manner on the easy chair and Hitty Leonarda who refuses to take off the new bonnet and apron for fear of someone else stealing  um, I mean borrowing it, sits next to Hitty Joyful so she can see all the fun pictures.

Hitty Joyful makes a good story reader, especially as she describes all the wonderful photos the book contains.

The Hittys at Rose Cottage would like to extend a very BIG THANK YOU to the Robertson Hittys for the delightful book.

They are currently working on a little thank you gift which will hopefully be making its way to your household next week.

Some Art Work

Hitty Madge is very into her art at the moment and spent some time over the weekend working on another two pieces that she is actually rather pleased with.

Another Art Class Day

Hitty Madge returned to art class this week and set up her easel to start a new piece.

It is always hard to start with  a blank slate...

...however it didn't take her long to get to work.

She works hard...

...laying down the base colour first.

Now she adds some different colours.

Nearly there...

Later on Hitty Madge shows Hitty Annabelle and asks her opinion...she isn't too sure she has quite got the proportions right and is a bit unhappy with it.  Hitty Annabelle thinks she has done okay for a beginner, but that she could always do a bit more work on it if she feels it needs it.

More Painting by Hitty Madge and some kite making.

Hitty Madge has been working hard at her art ready for an exhibition she plans to hold later this month.

So far she has four paintings ready

She just has to think of titles for them.

Meanwhile...

Myself and Hitty Joyful have been busy making kites.

\I place a couple of the Koinobori (Japanese flying carp) kites over one side

Whist Hitty Joyful places the other.

We hang the kite up as well.  It is all looking very colourful in our yard.

Hitty Madge joins an art class.

Hitty Madge has joined a local art class

Faced with a blank canvas she couldn't wait to get started.

She sketches an outline and then starts painting

Starting to look like something.

She works steadily and surely, although isn't too happy with the choice of music...she had heard usually classical music is playing.  Today someone brought a CD along - it was pop!  Not her choice of music that is for sure and hardly conducive to painting.

Almost finished.

She stands back to look at her work.

Hmm...

Yes that will do quite nicely she thinks.

She takes it home and proudly shoes Hitty Ethel and Hitty Moana

She is quite pleased with her first ever piece of art work.
