Swap gift arrived.

Well what can I say?  We were blown away by the fabulous 'Real Hitty Birthday Swap' gift that we received and Hitty Madge is the first lucky Hitty to model it, although we are thinking we are going to keep it for the 'new girl' once she is 'born'.

It has arrived!

Hitty Madge runs in from the letter box very excited today.

It's arrived!  She calls out waving a book around.

Look, Hitty Robertson's book has arrived!  Aren't we so lucky?  Hitty Madge can hardly contain her excitement and soon the four of them are reading the book with such concentration and interest I doubt that much will disturb them for hours!

Real Hitty Birthday Swap Gifts.

We have heard from Hitty Genevieve that our 'Real Hitty Birthday Swap' gifts have arrived so we can now show you what we sent her.

The swap was to create a gift based on any item mentioned in the book or any item she possesses in Real Life in the Library Museum in Stockbridge, MA.  You were allowed to include one extra item as well which we did.

We made this dress from page 118:

A "voluminous dress of cotton print, in a far from gaudy pattern." made by Thankful's mother. There is a ruffle around the neck.

We also included a pair of pantaloons to protect her modesty.

We also included a patchwork quilt.  (which we should have pressed into shape BEFORE taking the photo!)

A Hive of Activity

In preparation for the 'birth' of the new Hitty Rose Cottage has been a hive of activity with Hitty Ethel busy sewing dresses. 

Hitty Moana modelling the first of the dresses finished the other day (fortunately not dirtied when she went outside to bring the cow/hippo in) stands by hoping she will be able to try the next one on as well.  She might be wishful thinking as Hitty Ethel wasn''t too pleased when she heard Hitty Moana had been out in the fields wearing the new dress!

Hitty Moana went out to bring Daisy in from the fields where she had been enjoying the lovely fine sunny day we have had today.  I think Hitty Moana might be in a little bit of trouble as she went out in the new dress that has just been made!

Hitty Madge finds a Primrose

Although it is quite mild today and the rain seems to have ceased for a short while anyway, Hitty Madge donned a red cape to keep her warm and dry in the event of showers and went for a walk in the garden.

She was delighted to see this little primrose bravely flowering.

Such vibrant colours to cheer up a dull day.
