Welcome Hitty June

Well Hitty Three has been finished. Our person is not especially happy with her face, but then she says she is  not renowned for my face painting talents!

This is the first time she has carved a body with this shape

The side profile isn't bad.

So if she just stands sideways...

Comparison of views.

Dressed.

Meet Hitty June, named after our person's grandmother whose name was May but was known as June all her life.  It seemed quite appropriate that this little lady was known as Hitty June as she was almost finished in May, but not quite...so thus became June.

A comparison of the three Hitty girls our person has carved.

Hitty Madge her first, Hitty Cherry Jude...who we won't repeat what her husband says looks like...but something about being masculine was in there...and Hitty June.

Hitty Cherry Jude is wondering if she can perhaps be put forward for 'wood surgery' on her face...

Surprising the different sizes they have all turned out, as the blanks used were all the same size.

They suggest that they take Hitty June down stairs to meet the rest of the family.

She feels a bit like she is on parade...Hitty Carol Faith looks like she is in another world completely!

They all make Hitty June feel welcome.

Hitty Madge especially reassures her that she won't always feel like she is on show and that she will soon settle in.

  2. Seeing your carved Hittys makes me want to dig out my carving tools and blanks again. It has been a long while since I carved a doll.

  3. Thank you so much for showing all three of your carved Hittys together. I love knowing that each started with the same blank but that with your help emerged their very own unique individual. Amazing! Love hearing the backstory to Hitty June's name as well...it certainly is quite appropriate for her!
