Christmas decorating

Hitty Moana has been busy today, but she said it still isn't ready yet so the other Hittys aren't allowed to peak yet!

She bought some jars of Christmas sweets and candy canes at the market in Paris the other week which she has put on the sideboard with the nativity scene.

She has been trying to put the angel on the top of the tree but has been struggling so I would imagine she will be enlisting some help before long...  I wonder who she will ask?

Hitty Moana gets a Christmas Tree

Hitty Moana, having originally spent most of her life in New Zealand, originally as a Kauri tree, before being carved and becoming Hitty in the USA, has never spent Christmas in a cold climate and it is her first Christmas in England.  As such she thought she would surprise the rest of the Hittys by getting the Christmas tree with her two little reindeer helpers.  She also gathered together some decorations which she is planning to put up tonight while the other Hittys are asleep.

He has a face...

and is looking very happy as well.

He also has a name...as he had to travel across the miles to get here, he is called Miles (of smiles)

Now I need to get cracking and make him some clothes!

Little Boy is getting painted

Yeah, our person is painting our new boy's face today...

Here is is head and torso before she started.

Waiting for the first layers to dry...

Hitty Moana is overseeing the work as I, (Hitty Patience) are busy preparing some of the Christmas decorations with the other girls.

Hmmm...what do you think so far?

The new boy arrives

Goodness Hitty Patience, who/what do you think this is?  Hitty Moana asks.

I do believe our little Sara Cole Resin boy has arrived.  Hitty Patience explains to Hitty Moana.  I didn't realise though that he would be all in bits, the poor boy.  I wonder how we are going to join him together?

It looks like our person has two Hitty people to attend to now, doesn't it?  Hitty Moana replies.

Bonnet Swap and Bonnet Prize

It has been very quiet here at Rose Cottage, we have just been getting on with things enjoying the Autumn as best we can.  Today we were delighted to receive a wonderful packaged from America.  Inside was this amazing bonnet, apron and matching bag.  I wonder who would get to wear it first.  Well poor Hitty Ethel and Hitty Carol Faith had to concede that it was too small for them.  It did fit me and Hitty Granny Estelle, but we had to admit it looked best on Hitty Moana, especially with her pretty brown dress she was wearing. The colours just tied in beautifully.

Hitty Moana, just can't stop smiling, she is so thrilled with it and wants to send a very big thank you to Lauri on behalf of all the Hittys at Rose Cottage.

Just look at all the wonderful detail Lauri and the Brushtail Hittys have put into this bonnet.

This was a fun swap and we do feel very lucky indeed to have been partnered with Lauri who really did spoil us.

This is the bonnet and shawl we sent to Lauri.  We also sent a pie for Thanksgiving, but forgot to take a photo of it.

Secondly I would like to show you the lovely little knitted bonnet we received from Tree as a consolation prize for the KAL on HittyGirls.  It is so sweet and matches the buttons on my blue dress so I was lucky enough to be the first to wear it.  Certainly it will keep my ears nice and warm when I venture outside in it.

She also sent us a wonderful piece of fabric which I am sure we are going to enjoy making something from.

Thank you very much Tree, it is very sweet indeed.

Dressed for the colder months

A pleasant morning was had making a couple of dresses for Hitty.

I don't usually make two Hitty dresses the same, but one is for my girl, Hitty Moana, and the other is for a friend's Hitty.

A lovely dress for winter

Hitty Moana is quite pleased to be dressed warmer now.

All the Hitty girls dressed for Winter.

Carving a Hitty - Part Four

I've managed to do a bit more work on my Hitty

Now it is getting to the tricky stage...more fine tuning needed which I'm definitely not so confident in doing.

Still a little at a time will do it.

Cyber Saturday Bag-A-Long

Cyber Saturday on a Sunday - I made this lovely little book bag for Hitty Patience who enjoys going to the library.

Fun little project, I can see more of the Hitty Girls at Rose Cottage wanting one of these!

Off she goes.

A dress for Hitty Joyful

I really don't know where the time has gone the last couple of weeks, I am behind on reading the latest HittyGirls news and everything.  Hoping to try and catch up a bit this evening.

I did manage to do a little sewing today and made a dress for Hitty Joyful.

She said it was just right to go for a walk in the garden and it also goes with her hat which she loves so much.

Hitty Joful plays Thumbelina

Hitty Joyful is having a turn this month at the Hitty Girls Fairy Tale Competition.  She is playing Thumbelina and has just met the toad, little realising his intentions....such a sweet little innocent girl she is.

Carving a Hitty - Part Three

Hitty Patience made a passing comment today that she wondered how the wood carving was coming along.

Hint taken!

The difficult part, shaping the head and body.

Sometimes more comes off than you want or expected!  So some fine tuning is required.

Starting to take shape.

I don't think Hitty Patience is quite convinced yet that this is going to become another member of the Hitty family at Rose Cottage.  We shall see....

Hansel & Gretal and a little PIF Gift.

Hitty Joy and Hitty Carol Faith wanted to enter in for the Fairy Tale Photo Contest this month which was a scene from Hansel and Gretal.  Sadly their person didn't have enough time to make a Gretal outfit for them so they asked Ernest if he would step in to play the role.  He readily agreed, even if he was a little big.  Fortunately the witch (played by Hitty Carol Faith with her super dooper magical powers was able to overcome him and grab hold of him.  Gretal (played by Hitty Joy) was horrified.  Oh no, what is to become of them?

A little while later when things had calmed down somewhat, all the Hitty girls got together to admire the lovely pendant PIF they got sent from Denise in the US for taking part in the 'we didn't get to go to the Hitty Fun Weekend' photo fun.

Hitty Carol Faith has donned her pretty bonnet that also finally arrived after an amazingly long trip.  It matches her dressed and was missed when she packed to come here.  Fortunately Wanda noticed that Hitty Carol Faith had left it behind and sent it on.  Anyway they are admiring the beautiful little Hitty pendant cleverly made from a tile.

They have asked if they can hang it on the wall.  Why not our person agreed.

So from all of us here at Hitty Cottage, thank you very much Denise.

Carving a Hitty - Part Two

Yesterday some carving was done on the arms...

This is what they started out like.

I think our person found the arms very difficult indeed...

There were rather a few huffs and puffs and an 'Oh No!' at one stage...we decided it was probably better to be well clear of the action.

Still I think arms are indeed taking shape, although of course a lot more work needs to be done on them.

At a stretch of the imagination, these could be the beginnings of two arms.

Carving a Hitty - Part One

Our person has decided she would like to try her hand at wood carving her own Hitty.  Armed with new carving knives, gloves and a set of Hitty blanks she is all set to go.

Will these REALLY turn into a Hitty I wonder?

There are certainly lots of wood shavings happening, and yes, I think a leg might be taking shape there.

Another view...

Certainly starting to look a bit more shapely and less square now...

Let's compare with the other blank.

Hmm...still a way to go, but starting to look like a leg.

Some time later the other leg is starting to take shape as well.

I'm guessing she is going to have to take some sandpaper to these legs as well when she has finished carving them.  They are looking rather bumpy at the moment.

Of course the next limbs to attempt will be the arms!

Us Hittys think she is going to need some help with instructions for those!
